Mixed Up Chicken Mamas

MIXED UP MOMMAS  The mother banty wasn't too consistent with sitting on her eggs. She walked away and abandoned it; then the TINY baby hatched out and was alone, so Louie gave it to the old cluck. It's about the size of a baby sparrow. TINY!

Then in this heat, another egg randomly hatched out with nobody sitting on it. The banty adopted it. So she is going to have a GIANT baby pretty soon!  So funny to see.

Winona Visit With Darla and Lynn

Darla and I met in Winona and got together with Lynn too. We drove up to Wabasha to the Eagle Center.

We browsed several antique shops.

Lunch in Wabasha

We paddled on the lake in Darla's kayak.

We went bar-hopping.

And out to eat at the Hillside.

And we came out to Lynn's farm one of the evenings and she made dinner for us and took us for a ride.

And we did a photo shoot of the back side of Sugarloaf, the view from Darla's childhood home, so I could make a canvas to send to her for the redecoration of her home.

Here's a old picture of (left to right) Darla, Lynn, and Lee at Teen Corps in High School, and a couple buttons from back then.

Here are a couple pictures from an earlier trip we took, in August of 2012.

Bar hopping!

Black Bird Attacks

This blackbird had made a nest nearby and got very upset every time Louie or anybody came too close.  It happened over and over, so we finally filmed it!

Leaky Sink Pipe

John's bathroom sink was leaking, and when Louie opened up the wall, part of the pipe had rotted away.

Tony and OBUUC

Tony was a big part of my life.  He was my minister from 1991 onward.  He married us, he christened my children, and eventually he buried my mom (who was also a member at OBUUC.  Here is a very familiar sight: Tony singing and playing his guitar, this time at the Revival in 2017.

Here he is YEARS AGO at OBUUC Summer Family Camp.

Here are Tony and Craig getting married at City Hall when it became legal.  We were all so thrilled for them.

This video was around Christmastime at church (Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church in Racine, Wisconsin) in 2017.  Tony and the choir sang this lovely song.  So moving!

Mom's 90th Birthday

For Mom's 90th birthday, several weeks before her special day she told me she didn't want any party at all, and especially a surprise party.  She remembered we had done something special on all the decade birthdays.  So I asked her friends, relatives, and church members to send her cards.  She loves her cards, and my goal was to have her receive 90.  I had them sent to my house, and then gave them all to her at her little dinner and cake-and-ice-cream get-together with Carl and Pandora. She actually received about 110!

These were her yellow roses from Carl and Pandora.

Gabby and Mateo

Big sister Gabby is so good with baby Mateo.

Here's a special note I found on the chalkboard.

The baby and I play with our kitchen stuff more than the toys!
