Here is a link to a post about a phone class I taught for Tech Topics. I sure am not techy by current standards, but I am a patient and slow teacher, which is what these ladies want, I am told time and time again. I always joke that the only prerequisite for one of our Tech Topics classes is that you have to be older than me. Haha!
Culture and Cuisine is another offshoot of AAUW, and members present a video slideshow of trips they have taken. But during the Pandemic we met on Zoom. I presented my Perú trip in 2018.
Once a year AAUW meets in small groups in our homes to get to know each other better. This is ine of those small groups in 2024.
I go to the meetings four times a year of the Racine Area Retired Educators Association (RAREA). Here's a link to pictures of one of the meetings: here. And here I am at RAREA subbing for our usual leader when we play Bunco.
I am in a charitable sorority of teachers, Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK), for which I am the webmaster and historian. Here's a link to their website which I created (with Jessie's help) and maintain. Here I am with Margaret, who was co-president with me.
This is my chapter at a state conference.
We raise money to give to charitable causes, but once a year we have a "Work Day." Here we are making mittens.
ADK is also the group which made all the "Little Dresses for Africa." We worked in Terri's sewing room.
I play Scrabble with a very nice group of ladies about once a month. Ann is missing from this picture.
I am in a Spanish Conversation group which meets twice a month. At first we needed a topic to discuss when we met, but very soon we became friends and so now we just visit when we're together, but in Spanish. Here are a couple of pictures of one of our Zoom meetings we had with this group too. We are usually at a restaurant, and we have lunch and chat in Spanish.
A group of ESL Teachers graciously let me join their lunch group. They really have become good friends!
And my old Third Grade Team from Fratt School still gets together for breakfast once a month. Here we are at Mary's retirement party.
My Art Group was a small ministry group of the Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church, but we have gone rogue and dropped our affiliation with the church. Here we are at a printing workshop in September of 2017.
Here the Art Group is doing another group project together. This time we met in our barn. It was a lot of fun.
My old Starlets Quilting Group has quit quilting together but a few of us still get together for lunch once a month. Here we are a LONG time ago, in about 1987, judging by the age of Sandi's baby Sarah. Love my big hair! That was the year we all made star blocks in dusty rose and dusty blue, and exchanged them. That theme is also how we got our name "Starlets."
And here we are now, the few that still get together.

Darla and Lynn and I have started meeting most every summer in Winona, and via Zoom most every Friday. Here we are laughing as usual.

A group of teachers retired from Jerstad Elementary, the last school I taught at before retiring, gets together several times a year.
